EDINA FANTASY LEAGUE

2026 season · Week 8 recap / Week 9 preview · Final scores checked November 4

Edina Weekly Fantasy Report

Lady Luck buys a forklift. Ditka declares an emergency. M.J. checks the disaster archive.

Lady Luck leads with 142.50, Ditka follows at 139.10, and Roboto drops 132.85 on M.J. Meanwhile, Ralph scores 62.30 and Love Shack starts a zero at quarterback. The league has range. Mostly emotional.

The weekly median is 105.20. Globo clears it and loses; C-Kupps misses it and wins. KVWN is now 6–2, Santa has lost three straight, and the schedule remains this league’s most influential general manager.

Week 8: six fresh crime scenes

Lady Luck 142.50 · Globo Gym 106.95

Tuten scores 28.90, Bowers 24.70, Love 24.40, and Wilson 22.80. Lady Luck takes the weekly crown and wins by 35.55. Globo gets 24.45 from Maye and 42.50 from its RB group, a perfectly respectable effort against a team operating a fucking forklift.

Globo cleared the median and still got buried. Lady Luck has upgraded from charms to industrial equipment.

KVWN San Diego 110.80 · The Love Shack 71.20

KVWN wins a fourth straight game by 39.60. Higgins posts 32.50, Geno 20.90, and Kincaid 16.60. Love Shack takes a zero from Lamar at QB and gets just 7.00 from its two RBs. Golden and Jameson combine for 32.40; that is less a comeback than two tenants trying to save their security deposit.

The Love Shack started a quarterback who scored nothing. Even the antenna on KVWN contributed more signal.

C-Kupps 94.90 · Wreck It Ralphs 62.30

C-Kupps wins by 32.60 behind Allen’s 22.30 and Murray’s 22.00. Ralph gets 19.00 from defense plus kicker, but Flowers scores zero and the two tight ends combine for 4.50. C-Kupps finishes below the median and still wins comfortably.

Ralph’s supporting cast has filed a formal request to stop supporting.

Dearborn Dirkas 111.35 · Santas Naughty Elfs 103.45

The closest matchup goes to Dearborn by 7.90. Allen scores 29.45, Chase 25.60, and Warren 20.80, covering London’s 1.30. Santa gets 30.50 from McBride and Hockenson together, but Stafford’s 9.85 helps turn a 5–0 start into 5–3.

Santa has lost three straight. The naughty list is now just the schedule printed in red ink.

Hurricane Ditka 139.10 · Puppet Master 88.55

Burrow drops 44.10, Swift 26.90, and Smith-Njigba 20.80. Ditka wins by 50.55 and has scored 391.55 across three straight victories. Puppet gets 33.20 from Henry and Jacobs, but only 4.00 from defense and kicker combined.

The puppet strings have been classified as wind damage.

Mr. Roboto 132.85 · Team M.J. 77.55

Mahomes scores 28.65, Pollard 27.20, and Hubbard 21.40. Roboto wins by 55.30 despite a zero from Tre Tucker. M.J. gets 16.00 from the Jaguars defense, 14.30 from Kraft, and only 4.65 from Brissett. Cooper adds zero.

A brutal loss, but not M.J.’s worst this season: Santa already beat them by 69.40 in Week 5. The franchise has an extensive disaster archive.

On deck: Week 9 matchup previews

Verified ESPN pairings, current records, and Week 8 receipts.

Lady Luck’s Leprechauns vs. KVWN San Diego

5–3 meets 6–2. Lady Luck just scored 142.50; KVWN has won four straight and sits second in all-play. This is the premium matchup. The rest of the league can spend Sunday pretending its own game is equally relevant.

C-Kupps vs. Globo Gym

Both are 3–5 and 34–54 in all-play; Globo holds the total-points tiebreak. C-Kupps has won two straight. Globo has lost two straight despite clearing the median in Week 8. Identical records, radically different group-chat energy.

Dearborn Dirkas vs. The Love Shack

Both are 4–4. Dearborn is 62–26 in all-play; Love Shack is 43–45. The Shack just posted 71.20 with a zero at QB. Dearborn would like the schedule to stop being a personality test. Love would like a quarterback to attend.

Hurricane Ditka vs. Wreck It Ralphs

4–4 meets 1–7. Ditka has scored 391.55 over three weeks; Ralph has scored 240.40. Burrow alone outscored Ralph’s starting QB, two RBs, two WRs, and TE combined last week. This preview has been forwarded to the emergency management office.

Mr. Roboto vs. Santas Naughty Elfs

Both are 5–3. Roboto just won by 55.30; Santa has lost three straight. Santa still has the league’s most points, while Roboto is 11th in all-play. One team wants its early-season swagger back. The other would like everyone to stop opening spreadsheets.

Team M.J. vs. Puppet Master

3–5 meets 5–3. Both lost by more than 50 last week, and both have lost two straight. Someone has to win this game. The loser will describe it as a statistically unusual sequence of events; the group chat will use fewer syllables.

Power rankings after Week 8

Cumulative all-play wins; total points break ties. Movement compares the same method after Week 7.

Rank / TeamMoveRecordAll-playWeekly verdict
1. Dearborn Dirkas—4-462–26111.35, a win, and finally 4–4. Seven weeks above the median. The complaint department has approved the paperwork.
2. KVWN San Diego—6-260–28110.80 and four straight wins. Higgins supplied 32.50. The station now broadcasts exclusively in smug definition.

4. Lady Luck's Leprechauns↑ 25-352–36142.50 and the weekly crown. Tuten and Bowers combined for 53.60. The leprechaun has acquired heavy machinery.
5. Santas Naughty Elfs↓ 25-351–37Three straight losses after starting 5–0. The sleigh is still airborne, but everyone can smell the engine.
6. The Love Shack↓ 14-443–4571.20 with a zero at QB. The Shack has running water, electricity, and absolutely no passing game.
7. Puppet Master—5-342–4688.55 and a second straight loss. Ditka won by 50.55. The puppet show has been replaced by an evacuation announcement.
8. Team M.J.—3-539–4977.55. The Jaguars defense scored 16; the starting QB and both WR slots combined for 17.95. Somebody promote the defense to general manager.
9. Globo Gym↑ 13-534–54106.95 and still lost by 35.55. A reasonable workout, followed by being hit with the entire weight rack.
10. C-Kupps↓ 13-534–5494.90 and a second straight win. Beating Ralph is technically a victory, although the DMV also hands out numbers.
11. Mr. Roboto—5-333–55132.85 and a 55.30-point demolition. After weeks of schedule fraud, the robot finally submitted a real invoice.
12. Wreck It Ralphs—1-723–6562.30 and 1–7. Zero weeks above the median. The wrecking crew has started charging itself demolition fees.

The Monday-morning coaching audit

“I would’ve won if I started the right guys.” Fine. We checked.

Hindsight through Week 8: choose each roster’s best scoring legal lineup from its starters and bench, then replay the real schedule with both opponents optimized. Same roster, same week, same positions; no waiver pickups, trades, or IR players added. This is a hindsight ceiling, not a claim that every choice was predictable before kickoff.

Lineup: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR/TE flex, 1 K, 1 D/ST. Each player is used once. “Only you optimize” holds opponents at their actual scores, so those records do not form a mutually consistent league. Ties stay ties; hypothetical tiebreak rules are not imposed.

M.J. left 42.20 points on the bench in Week 8—and still loses to Roboto’s best lineup. The lineup meeting deserves questions; the opponent also deserves some credit. Ditka and Globo already used their highest-scoring lineups.

Week 8: who sat on the points?

These are sets of substitutions; flex players may move into an eligible starting slot. They are not always one-for-one swaps at the same position. Only the stated week’s roster is considered.
